The month of festivals, Tishrei, is fast approaching and for many of us it’s a time of fond memories; we remember going to Shul with our parents and grandparents, we remember the call of the Shofar, and of course we remember the commencing moments of Kol Nidrei.
As we stand in Shul and pour our hearts out to our creator, begging and beseeching Him to bless us and the entire world with a Shana Tova; we must remember that Hashem is a Av HaRachaman, a merciful father, who is certainly looking out for our wellbeing and going to bless us with a great year.
Growing up, I have many fond memories of the high holidays. Every year, shortly after I returned home from overnight camp, the excitement would begin. The blowing of the Shofar from the beginning of the month of Ellul, moving onto Selichos, Tashlich, Kapores, eating in the Sukkah, shaking the Lulav, and finally dancing with the Torah on Simchat Torah, kept my family and I in constant action mode.
This year I will God willing make many more beautiful memories, I have been humbly chosen to spiritually guide and lead the members of the Young Israel of Chomedey, a community that is truly committed to maintaining Yidishkeit in Laval. Joining in our daily Minyan, coming to Shul on Shabbos, and partaking in our Shul’s events, will surely keep Chomedey’s Jewish Spark ablaze.
This High Holiday season be optimistic, be joyous and be comforted knowing that indeed Hashem will shower us with Shana Tova U’Metukah! Place your trust in Him and He will take good care of you!
Rochel, Eli and Chana Leah join me in wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and sweet New Year.
